Everyone Wants to be Arab!

My friend Sharif and I have a (perhaps unhealthy) infatuation with the League of Arab States. In some ways we can’t let the pan-Arabist in us die, despite a really lame official website. I have always wanted to show up at a rally proudly waving the flag of The League, or put one on my […]

Forgetting Ali Bushiki

My favorite Arab Malcontent, As’ad Abu Khalil, wrote a lengthy blog posting on Spielberg’s movie about the Munich massacre. He argues the film serves Israel’s propaganda purposes by ignoring important political context and weighing Israeli deaths higher than Palestinian ones. He also demonstrates how the film misses the more morally repugnant aspect of Israel’s response […]

Take the KABOBfest Challenge

On Israel’s Irritant Pest = Palestinian Terrorists Anagram Genius publishes a page of anagrams relating to Israel-Palestine. Most of the anagrams reflect a pro-Israel bias, which proves what we all know — Jews are smarter than Arabs. Or maybe, Arabs have not really given much thought into the art of anagrams (though one contributor on […]

Actually Applied What He Learned in Class

A young Arab-American high school student who meandered is way into and around Baghdad for a high school journalism project will return home this weekend. Using allowance from his parents, Farris Hassan of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, snuck out of his house to fly to the Middle East. He was inspired by a concept he learned […]

New Racist Campaign

Two weeks ago, Lamar Advertising decided not to post racist billboard ads for the Coalition for a Secure Driver’s License. This dealt a serious blow to the Coalition, who will likely be unable to continue with their original plan of canvasing North Carolina and then New Mexico with their racist imagery. However, the use of […]

File Under: What?!?!

In the early to mid 1990′s, some 400 Libyan children were infected with HIV at a Libyan hospital. The government arrested and allegedly tortured 5 Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor. They were convicted by a low court and given the death penalty: Libya accused them of deliberately infecting the children at a Benghazi hospital […]

Merry Christmas, Bethlehem

There are two significantly conflicting reports on the Christmas spirit in Bethlehem: ABC News featured an AP report painting a rosy picture. It depicts the rea as hopeful and optimistic. It claims the return of “Holiday spirit” finally, “as hundreds of pilgrims from around the world packed the town of Jesus’ birth for Christmas Eve […]

KABOBfest Exclusive: Muslim Poop Surveilled

US News has uncovered that “the the federal government since 9/11 has run a far-reaching, top secret program to monitor radiation levels at over a hundred Muslim sites in the Washington, D.C., area, including mosques, homes, businesses, and warehouses, plus similar sites in at least five other cities.” In other news, KABOBfest’s team of investigative […]
