Jackson Going Down the Straight Path?

Rumors are circulating that Mr. Michael Jackson himself is converting to Islam. Welcome to the club — however unlike most Muslims, I am not excited about welcoming any celebrity convert. The guy probably is a weird pervert. I hope faith can straighten him out better than it did Mike Tyson. Since his brother Germaine became Muslim in the early 1990′s, maybe he can have some positive guidance there.

Dumb ‘Abyad’ Joke: I wonder if this means Jackson will perform for the insurgents in Iraq?

Since making Bahrain his new home, Jackson announced plans to build a new state-of-the-art Mosque in Bahrain… it will be located steps from his luxury palace (how Islamic). There is no word on whether his pal Bubbles was given Bahraini citizenship.

Jackson Anti-Semitic?

Recently, Jackson became embroiled in an Anti-Semitism-police controversy. ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ played a tape of a voice mail he left his former advisor:

they’re like leeches…I’m so tired of it…They start out the most popular person in the world, make a lot of money, big house, cars and everything. End up penniless. It is a conspiracy. The Jews do it on purpose.

The Palestinians also ended up screwed by a Jewish conspiracy (well of some Jews) — except we didn’t get fame and fortunes out of it! (And from my experience while there were Jewish plotters against us, we had and have Jewish defenders.)

The ADL’s Abraham Foxman, who always has something dumb to say, pointed out Jackson has a streak of anti-semitism. In a 1995 song, “They don’t care about us,” he sang “Jew me/Sue me/Everybody do me/Kick me/Kike me.” Well two events does not make a “streak.” Yeah, I know, who really cares anyways? Are Jews actually oppressed by this stereotype? Last I checked there is no longer a Jewish glass ceiling in corporations. And I don’t trust the aggregated anti-Jewish hate crimes statistics — every pro-Palestinian march or event we had was reported as one.

I agree with Foxman that Jackson blames the Jews as an escape from his own problems. Unlike the Palestinians, he voluntarily entered into his relationships with Jews. He chose the advisor who later turned against him. He stayed in the music biz (his family began him on). And to make all Jews seem the same is wrong. Noam Chomsky is not Ariel Sharon. Jon Stewart is not Foxman.

  1. Do you remember that scene in Three Kings when that really pissed of Iraqi dude, Captain Said, tied Mark Wahlberg down to a chair and started pouring petroleum down his throat? Remember what he was saying?

Capt. Said: What is the problem with Michael Jackson?

Then Wahlberg was like, “What do you mean?” And Capt. Said somthing like, “You know King of Bob HEEEWHOO! What kind of society is so sick that it make a black man want to chob ub his face too look white?”

Perhaps Mr. Jackson took a liking to how he was used as a metaphor for the Americanization of other cultures..

If not, it was still pretty effing funny.
