Professor Ilan Pappe Rocks!
On November 19th, The Northeastern University School of Law National Lawyers Guild Chapter & the Boston Coalition for Palestinian Rights held an important conference called ‘Beyond Apartheid in Israel/Palestine: The Reality on the Ground & Lessons from South Africa.’ With about 300 attendees, it represented the major shift in discourse and tactics that began with the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation conference last September.
Increasingly, mainline church and liberal activists are using the discourse of “apartheid” and the language of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions in their work for a just peace in Israel-Palestine. This is a shift from just a few years ago, when east coast activists were reluctant to take on such messages — even though the goal of a real peace is the same.
Ilan Pappe, political science professor at Haifa University, gave a great and inspiring talk at the Boston gathering. You can listen to it here. He sensed that this could be a historical turn of events — the beginning of a new, international anti-Apartheid movement.
He also signed copies of his new book, The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.
I also recorded the other speakers at the event. Unfortunately, only my recording of Omar Barghouti’s presentation came out well. I will post it in the coming days.

Ilan Pappe is a world renowned academic who helped launch an academic movement, the ‘New Historians,’ and publishes with the most credible publishing houses in the world, such as Cambridge University press — and he is the nut? Walid Shoebat, who you hold up, is right-wing christian nut with no relevant academic training who thinks he must support Israel to help speed along armageddon. With sources like your’s no wonder you don’t know shit.
Do you think that divestment from Palestine will change the Palestinians’ apartheid system?
Do you know what timeline does he cover (book)? 1948 – Present or only a specific decade? Does he qualitatively or quantitatively approach the ethnic cleansing matter?

he has no credibility with Zionists because he actually examined the documentary record supplied by Israel’s official archives. Most Zionists prefer national mythology to the sober analysis of facts a serious academic like Pappe conducts. Read one of his books and you’ll see well-supported arguments. He’s not a sound-bite simulacrum.

Ilan Pappe hates Israel. Of course Kabombers love him. He ignores history and makes things up. Saying “ethnic cleansing” a million times does not make it true. If anyone ethnically cleansed the Middle East, it was the Arabs who kicked the Jews and Christians out whereever they could find them. It continues to this day – Haniyeh “will not recognize Israel.” Christians and Jews are routinely slaughtered. The Koran proscribes that Islam should inherit the earth. CAIR hopes for Islam to rule the White House.
