In addition to the British academic and trade unions that have decided or planning to boycott Israel, South Africa's largest trade union is mulling a similar move:
South Africa's largest trade union federation will launch a campaign against "the Israeli occupation of Arab lands" this week, demanding that Pretoria impose a boycott on all Israeli goods and break diplomatic relations. South African Intelligence Minister Ronnie Kasrils, who is Jewish, told Haaretz that he actively supported the initiative - which contradicts the policy of his own cabinet. On the other side, Norway has decided to break away from the Israeli-US led embargo of the Palestinian government, and resume direct aid.

What? South Africa, supporting a racist boycott? That's good! You know you are on moral high ground when you've got South Africa on your side!
Of course Craig...
You are saying that with cynicism. but what people in the entire world are better positioned to judge an apartheid-style regime?
Here is Ilan Pappe urging boycott, divestment, sanctions ...

The only country with violent crime rates as high as Iraq's?
You do bring up a good point, though. South Africa is a very good example of a place where the oppressed have become the oppressors. God help us all if Palestinians are ever in a position to oppress anybody. Because they will oppress people to death.
Both Palestinians and Israelis will benefit from a boycott

Last October, 13-year-old Iman al-Hams was shot and wounded by an Israeli army unit in the southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah, despite being identified as a little girl, and wearing a school uniform.
Since when is a 13 year old a "little girl"?
Who says she was "identified" as a harmless non-combatant? We don't know... the Guardian conveniently doesn't tell us. They also don't tell us anything about the circumstances.
The Guardian lists the number of Palestinian minors (I will not call teenagers children when teenagers are committing terrorist attacks) who have died, but the Guardians does not mention anything about the fact that Palestinian parents have been teaching their kids to murder Israelis, and have been sending them out to do just that. For years.
That's a racist article by the Guardian. Not only is it completely one sided in it's presentation, it tells a story without presenting any supporting evidence whatsoever.

How old is that little girl? 5?

Craig, when did you start adopting callous, diversionary Nazi rhetoric?
Maybe I'm an honorary Nazi, as well as an honorary Palestinian.
Speaking of diversions (calling somebody a Nazi is classic!) - how old do you think the little girl in that picture is? Or do you consider it irrelevant to the discussion that Palestinians actually are teaching their children to murder Jews? Because, ya know, I think it is pretty fucking relevant.
I love that, Craig... "Palestinians actually are teaching their children to murder Jews".
In the benighted Israel, they have statutory three years national service to kill Arabs...!
Of course, I wouldn't like to debate the moral relativism of ad hoc hatred verus instituiotnalised racism...
Would you?
Yeah, I'm sure this boycott will accomplish as much for your peeps as say Arafat or Abbas has done so far.
Let me know when you guys release the ominous exploding embryo, then we can talk productive activism.
"In the benighted Israel, they have statutory three years national service to kill Arabs...!"
Including Israeli Arabs, Druze, and Bedoins. I guess, like many other Arabs and Muslims around the world (like Hashemites, Kuwaitiis, and Lebanese), they don't have many qualms about protecting their countries from the scourge of Palestinian terrorism (an institution in the world of terrorism, congrats!).
But I wouldn't want to argue the the benefits that Palestinians have provided to the civilized world, would you? In fact, I can't think of any, so never you mind.
Abu Treiq,
Of course, I wouldn't like to debate the moral relativism of ad hoc hatred verus instituiotnalised racism...
You think school plays are "ad hoc"? You think shows on Palestinians television are "ad hoc"?
Sure, I'll debate it with you. Any time. But first we have to clear up this little misunderstanding about what "institutionalized" means, no? Schools are institutions. So are television stations. And so are mosques.
