Finally, that thorn in my side is about to be no more, and thanks to Uncle Murdoch.
For somebody with a liberal agenda, The Wall Street Journal presented a real challenge. Unlike psycho outlets like FOX News or the Washington Times, it actually had credibility. Deserved credibility for the most part, too. The WSJ earned journalistic clout and the readers’ trust through decades of accurate, well-researched reporting. The problem with the WSJ is that is expended this journalistic capital through pushing very conservative, hawkish, and overtly mercantilist commentary on its readers.
I usually do not worry myself with the bloodthirsty commentary that is spewed out of the likes of FOX and Washington Times, because they carry little to no credence with intelligent or educated people. As a matter of fact, I do not think there are any more intelligent people who turn to FOX News. But those who take WSJ as gospel, are the real movers and shakers of business and politics.
Now that media mogul Rupert Murdoch finally acquired the Dow Jones, WSJ’s mother company, after what seemed like treacherous negotiations, I cannot be any happier. In reality, as soon as he made his over priced bid for the company, I expressed that the little sinister man inside me wishes he actually succeeded. I believe that Murdoch’s overt and intrusive management and his relentlessly blind political agenda will retard the WSJ and its journalistic credibility to a level similar to that of FOX news. While it may boast wide readership, like FOX does viewership, I must congratulate Rupert on retaining the low IQ mercantilists.
