During US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice’s visit to the new Apartheid, she met with Palestine’s paper-President Mahmoud Abbas, aka Abu Mazen.
Standing next to her loyal servent, Rice claimed Palestinian statehood is a U.S. interest. “Frankly, it’s time for the establishment of a Palestinian state,” Rice said.
“I wanted to say in my own voice to be able to say to as many people as possible that the United States sees the establishment of a Palestinian state and a two-state solution as absolutely essential for the future, not just of Palestinians and Israelis but also for the Middle East and indeed to American interests,” she said. “That’s really a message that I think only I can deliver.”
I have a message to deliver you: Fuck off. We’ve heard this bullshit before and we know that the US and Israel have in mind a garbage, bantustan state for Palestine — which is in US interests, apparently. Neither want a full-fledged, fully sovereign state. Israel will pull the levers of this new Palestine, and it will be doomed to be quasi-state at best. All they need is a good manager to sign on the dotted line, and oppress away resistance.
Given Abu Mazen’s hand in this, in dividing the Palestinians, in grabbing power as an authoritarian and undermining Palestine’s elections, it is time he gets a promotion.
Instead of being “President” of a non-state, he is thinking, why can’t he preside over a quasi-state? Oh, all the ceremonies, the pomp, the receptions, the official show of statehood — that’s all the man wants. And he’s been such a good and loyal banana-republic security guard, the way he limits dissent and delivers on US/Israeli expectations (albeit, he is not perfect). It’s time American rewards its good little puppy. I think Rice might recognize that, too. Throw him a bone, will ya?

In fairness, neither do you – unless you get all the land from the River to the Sea.

Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2007, 9:22 amWord on the street that this was Laura’s idea. Apparently she thought it would be “pretty cute” to include a Palestinian State in this years White House Halloween decorations.
Posted by Fayyad | October 15, 2007, 9:37 amI agree 300-fucking-percent! Abbas is an over-glorified prison warden. If the dumb ass signs away on this – he’ll be signing away on his life.

What will you do when the international community supports the agreement for a two state solution?
Look for martians to support your cause?
Posted by Anonymous | October 15, 2007, 7:21 pmWell, anon, it wouldn't be any less bizarre than Israel relying on the support of the Marshall Islands for it's continued colonisation of Palestinian land….Hey, maybe the Martians can apply a little pressure on the "international community" to uphold their own laws…
Posted by NOX | October 15, 2007, 8:54 pmNox,
I though Israel relied on the US, Europe, the whole UN, China, India and Russia but I was probably wrong.
I am getting the feeling that your movement is nothing more than a nihilistic excercise.
What will you do if a majority of Palestinians support a two state solution?
Posted by Anonymous | October 16, 2007, 7:18 amAccording to the author a Palestinian quasi-state is an injustice yet the destruction of Israel is not.
