Since Israel is obviously the only democracy in the region, and the United States is not the only democracy in its region, I deduce the answer is A.

Am I right?

Wow this is weak, Emily.

I'm beginning to think all you're good for is cheap shots, built on inadequate or misleading information, praying that no one actually checks the link. I guess it's good that you took someone's advice and just dropped the link this time, saving us half a page of predictability.

It may surprise you to know that injustice exists in every society. Shall we get into the rights of homosexuals in the West Bank and Gaza? Or perhaps count the honor killings of women?

The question is how that society responds. In the case of Israel, from the same friggin article (which, btw, is an ISRAELI NEWS SITE!!!)...

"Education Minister Yuli Tamir said in response to this incident: “I was shocked an appalled at what happened to these girls. None of this was reported to the Ministry of Education. This is blatant racism and those responsible will suffer the appropriate consequences.”

Officials at the Education Ministry expressed shock and disgust at the incident, and strongly condemned these blatantly racist actions.

“Discrimination and racism have no place in the education system,” they noted. Ministry of Education Director General Shlomit Amichai reported that an inspector will be sent to the school Tuesday morning to investigate the matter, and that the school will be penalized accordingly."

WEAK, Emily. WEAK.

The irony of your comment is that it's true. The other countries in the region set the bar that low.

Not to mention (and you were sure not to mention it) that it was an incident reviled by the education ministry.

I am sure you all know that African Jews and Arab Jews are less than equal to their European counterparts.

So much for the "Jewish State". Maybe it should be the "White Jewish State"?

Yes, it's a problem in the "Jewish State". However, it has nothing to do with the "Jewish" and everything to do with the "State".

It is antithetical for Jews to discriminate against one another on the basis of... anything. As part of morning prayers, in addition to innumerable affirmations of our unity as a people - "the children of Israel", etc. - we say...

"I hearby take upon myself to fulfill the mitzvah, "Love your fellowman [meaning first and foremost your fellow Jew] as yourself."

Chapter 32 of Tanya - for any Chassidim in attendance - explains precisely what "love your fellowman as yourself" means. A love that is unconditional, unwavering and eternal, unblemished by events or personalities; a love that is neither earned, nor deserved, it simply exists, as between a parent and child.

As for the "State"... it's a work in progress.
