Hillbilly is a pejorative term referring to people who dwell in remote, rural, mountainous areas. Because of its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term is frequently considered derogatory depending on the context in which it is used or the attitude of the user.

Programmer Craig is the local President of the Hillbilly Defense League (HDL).
He gained local notoriety for his employment of clearly sexist language (calling a woman a "bitch") in the defense of hillbilly rights.
Also, he explained his own anti-Arab hatred and Islamophobia, which some viewed as hypocritical, as an integral part of his hillbilly creed. He attributed the clear double standard to his own cultural particularities, which the HDL seeks to protect.
