A little hyphy these days, huh?

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran, In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

is this what Kabobfest has sunk to? Made up quotes attributed to Presidential candidates?

Find me an accurate source for that, please.

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran (if it attacks Israel)," Clinton said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."

"In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them," she said.

oh snap, anonymous got owned.

The REAL quote indicated that the United States would attack Iran IF they launched a Nuclear attack. The author is, I'm guessing, so filled with hate and rage? that he chose to change it to fit his intellectually narrow world view.

Owned? I think not. And if anything, the author of this deliberately misleading post has been exposed as a mental lightweight, and a poor reflection on the blog we like to call Kabobfest.

the author of the post did a FINE job in quoting hillary's speech.
the "if it attacks Israel" is CLEARLY in parenthesis in the first half of the quote, meaning that it was there mainly for context. she did NOT say it, so he didn't have to quote it.
and as you can see from the second part of the quote, he left the part where she said that it was a condition of if they launched an attack of israel.
misleading? i think not. i don't understand why people come to this blog just to nitpick and accuse people of fabrication.

on a lighter note, it looks like programmer craig finally got a life.

Ally, I think you're looking at the actual quote, and noe what the 'author' of this post attributed to her.

Hey, I'm sure Hilary would obliterate Israel IF it attacks Iran. So no hard feelings...

ally said...

yes, i'm looking at the actual quote on reuters, which is EXACTLY the same as the quote that tarik posted.
except that he left out a part in parenthesis, which is only there for context.
tarik didn't leave out anything that hillary SAID - in fact, he leaves the full quote intact, including the part *during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on israel* which shows that the attack on iran would be conditional.

Of course Hilary would obliterate Iran if it attacks Israel. Because Iran has a huge lobby in DC that writes our foreign policy. LOL.

umm, ally, there is a huge difference between "I will attack Iran" and "I will attack Iran if it launches a NUCLEAR ATTACK"

The 'author' chose to change around the quote to fit whatever type of message he was trying to convey. It was deliberately misleading and doesn't take an English PHD to realize it makes a world of difference.

link? Every source I've checked indicates that the quote was changed around.

It's not an issue of being difficult, it's about the common practice of fearmongering among the right AND the left.

ally said...

i give up. i sent him the original link and he still thinks it was changed around, all because tarik left out something in parenthesis.

ally, I'm not sure what you don't get. The quote in the link you posted is different from the one posted here. Not sure how to spell it out for you.

And yes, where are some more tasty posts?!
