Arabs Reviewing Comics- Denmark, Eat your Heart Out!
When News of the Muhammad cartoons came out, I was shocked as a Muslim, but as a member of this no boundaries-when-it-comes-to-brown-person-respect world, I wasn’t shocked at all. I mean, to see a drawing of Muhammad with a Bomb is like putting Jesus on a t-shirt that says “Jesus is my homeboy”. Oh shit…that…already….happened. Obviously less endearing, those drawings sparked madness from Damascus to Tanzania. Islam was under attack (nothing new nothing new, y’all ain’t sayin nothin’ new)…
So between my weekly purchases of Marvel Madness (Secret Invasion what ap) and the death of Batman, I do some research online for exclusiveness that isn’t found anywhere. Stuff like Inana’s Tears, based on old Mesopotamian tales of the Goddess of War and Fertility…to a Red Hulk, comics books not only help me with my rhyme patterns and thoughts, but make me see the political world we live in their real light; power hungry multi-billionaires VS. Power-hungry people who think they are superhuman but ultimately die due to comic companies need for MORE PRODUCT. (ie. Kill Superman, bring him back as four dudes, sell four times the comic book)
Alas, my wife passes me a link to this. Now, not to say we are devout of sin as Muslims. I have been thoroughly dissapointed with the direction of Islam in the modern light and it’s reaching an alarming state of ignorance and hatred towards the worlds fastest growing religion.
First it was Chuck Norris. The bad acting was fairly tolerable, balancing the horribly stereotypical and racist scripts. Then came the whole terrorist complex in the movies. Then that became real.
Now its straight hatred, I am so saddened by the state of the world. (ok, bloggers, you ready to comment on my dreamy Canadian mindstate?) This shit pushed it right off the edge, onto the ground below and stomped the shit out of Denmarks’ newspapers.

The Prophet by Jack T Chick….
This particular issue is about an American journalist coming back from Lebanon and he meets an old friend of his that breaks down for him at an airport of all places. is understand of Islam as the Vatican taught him. Most the facts are accurate about the conception of Islam and the history surrounding it, but the way the author starts twisting the script by saying things like “Muhammad began his career as the Prophet…” is heinous.
at one point, he points out “It was at Medina that Muhammad began to show his hostility towards the Jews by raiding Jewish settlements. Then he goes on to fortell a story of what I call, an Islam Contra; where the Catholic Church is funding Muslims, or followers of Muhammad, to kill Jews. Eventually, the deranged Arabs get power crazy and search to spread Islam to Europe. This is the birth of Colonialism.
Mr.Chick’s whole m-o is discrediting Allah as God. He claims that Islam was a made up religion that followed the Moon God of the Ka’aba, pre-Islam/during the idolatry phase. After he appropriately strokes your Islamic love, he busts his guns out (no pause intended) and drops a load on the religion in general. Read it for yourself. I. Couldn’t. Believe. It.
All his comics have a common theme and are all available at chick.com . The weirdest part is the ending of each comic book. Coming up, I used to fill up the “Cut this out and send it back with 50 cent and get the exclusive half-ass issue of X”. He has the same box, with a “DO YOU DENOUNCE ISLAM AND BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR SAVIOR?” Damn son, Capitalism is a mug. I’ll buy that for a dollar.
