When he realized his own ignorance, he removed the reference from his column. Of course, there is probably nothing more pathetic that a columnist can do than editing after publication to save face. Also, even if such a fist pound was something uncommon, I'm not sure where he gets "Hezbollah style fist-jabbing" from.
