ABUNIMAH: Obama’s ambiguity
What it reveals about Mideast ‘peace’

Sons are not responsible for the racism of their fathers. But they do have a responsibility to let others know that they disagree vehemently with such sentiments. This is certainly the case for individuals in public service, particularly the man, President-elect Barack Obama, has chosen as White House chief of staff. Yet, Rep. Rahm Emanuel has not said a word regarding the troubling statement his father made to the Israeli newspaper Ma’ariv.

Posted by American Muslim Girl | November 12, 2008, 8:19 pmweren’t some people on this blog outraged over the thought of Obama repudiating things Reverend Wright has said?
We can either judge people on their own merits, or judge them based on anything one of their friends of family members might have said.
Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2008, 12:40 amI have been irritated that Benjamin Emanuel was ever let in the USA since I heard stories about his days in the Irgun when I lived in Chicago in the early 80s.
If the DOJ Office of Special Investigations were not almost completely Jewish, Benjamin would have been investigated and probably deported years ago.
See Zajanckauskas, Henss, Selective Prosecution and Equal Protection.
It is not a question of Benjamin’s racist comments or beliefs, but a fundamental need to demonstrate that US laws apply to Jewish Zionists as much as to non-Jews.
The US is either a Rechtstaat where there is rule of law or a Judenstaat where Jews are privileged.

Posted by Anonymous | November 13, 2008, 9:54 amAnon, I have my guesses as to your identity, but I have no proof and so will keep it to myself.
But, vis a vis the Rev. Wright subject, Rev Wright’s black liberation theology cannot possibly rise to level of overt racism and hatred. Plus, he very clearly distanced himself and gave a speech to say, I DONT BELIEVE THE SAME THINGS YOU BELIEVE. Rahm has not done that.
And as to your second comment, Jaochim martillo is awesome. What might your problem be? That he is an equal opportunity criticizer? Are we allowed to criticize anyone, as long as he is not Jewish?
Posted by American Muslim Girl | November 13, 2008, 10:39 amYou can say that the US has unbalanced or hypocritical policies without coming to conspiracy conclusions. The language of that last line of his reeks of antisemitism, in the classical sense.
Posted by nadia | November 15, 2008, 11:09 amUh my last comment in reference to this line:
The US is either a Rechtstaat where there is rule of law or a Judenstaat where Jews are privileged.
NOT the Abunimeh article, which is great.
