Two Possible Explanations for NPR Assassination Attempt
NPR reporter Ivan Watson and three members of NPR’s Iraqi staff “narrowly escaped an apparent assassination attempt in Baghdad on Sunday after a hidden ’sticky’ bomb exploded underneath their parked, armored BMW.”
NPR broke this story… somehow.
I’m thinking there must be a rogue Republican cell operating in Baghdad.
Or, another possible explanation: inter-NPR rivalries. Did anyone keep tabs on Robert Siegel’s whereabouts? Word around the campfire is that Watson was eying the top host position on “All Things Considered.” Or should I say, “All Enemies Terminated”?
Since we’re on the subject of conspiracies, perhaps this is Watson’s sad fix for a slow news day.
I know poking fun at this is a bit insensitive so I will end on a serious note of approval. The usually unnamed Arab stringer gets quoted on NPR’s website. And as usual for any Arab, it’s poetic:
“I was supposed to die here, but it seems my life is longer than this. I will be back, habibi.”
