American Indian Movement on Palestine

American Indian activist Russell Means said President-elect Obama was selected by the colonial powers as president to improve the US image globally in the aftermath of George Bush. Further, Means said Obama’s appointments show that he is a Zionist controlled by Israel. Speaking on Red Town Radio today, Means said what is happening now to Palestinians is what happened to American Indians.

“Every policy the Palestinians are now enduring was practiced on the American Indian,” Means said on the Blog Talk Radio show, hosted by Brenda Golden, Muskoke Creek. “What the American Indian Movement says is that the American Indians are the Palestinians of the United States, and the Palestinians are the American Indians of the Middle East,” Means said. Further, he points out that the Zionists who control Israel now control the United States. “The power of the US in world politics diminishes every day.”

“Now they have found a house servant by the name of Obama.” Means said Obama was selected as a “man in charge to take the heat,” because of the “bad cop” image that Bush put forth in the world. “Now, all of a sudden, it is, ‘We’re so great. We elected a black man to be president.’”

Means added that Obama is a black man who was raised by his white grandmother and has appointed Zionists to key positions and that the US is headed for a new era of menial jobs. On Indian lands, Means reminds us, the only people who get ahead are those who sell out to the colonial system. Now, there is massive and sophisticated propaganda by the Zionists and the U.S. Both countries, he said, are liars. In the US, American Indians have been shut out of history, philosophy and the arts, in a “total blackout.” The United States does not want to be reminded of the smallpox blankets, theft, colonialism and mistreatment of the American Indian, he said.

  1. As an American Indian I completely support Israel. Means is not even indian, and gets funding from Iran. go Israel!

    • Potawatomi, the author of the article did NOT say that the descendants of the original native Indians are against Israel, or that they support Israel. I suggest you take a few comprehension lessons, then re-read what was written.

    • It’s a good thing that some people understand this Russel is dangerous when he preaches for hatefull to the youth !

As a mizrhahi woman(jew from Tunisia) I completely agree with what Lalla Aicha aays: all the jews from Orient were forced to leave their houses and Mr Russel means who has a very selective sensitivity to pain never talks about that while as he ‘s talking about peace and defending the innocents..

It was an ethnic cleaning and hidden history for people that were in Middle East and Northern Africa since thousand years..

  3. There is perhaps no better proof of the embarrassment and self-hatred of Israeli sympathizers than their perpetual and ridiculously laughable attempts to disguise themselves as other ethnicites, etc., or better yet as Palestinians critical of Hamas. I welcome it– the easy and pathetic way in which they incriminate themselves, and their moronic attempts to hide behind the bodies of others in conveying their fascist (lack of) thoughts and ideas. Even as governments around the globe continue to disappoint, the world is begininning to see and understand the savage and brutal actions and polices of Israel, which were put in place well before this current massacre of Palestinians in Gaza. But nothing is more hopeful than the transnational solidarity expressed by those who have been historically disenfranchised and discriminated against — be it Native Americans, African Americans, Palestinians, the poor, and so forth. Even after the murderous acts perpetrated by Israel, Palestine and the Palestinians will prevail.

    • Nothing is more hopeful then you opening up your mind and seeing that every human being has been opressed or disenfranchised in history. Israel needs help with it policys and laws towards Palistinians but Palistinian groups like hamas need to release their strangle hold on the Gaza strip. And a comment on the article if Palistinians are the American Indians of the Middle east they should open up casinos and make a butt load of money. So suck on that one buddy

  6. Means is right on the money about Obama. The powers that be pulled this guy out of nowhere and carefully vetted him to put a nice, shiny coat of blackface on the dying neocon franchise. Of course they would have preferred McCain, as Obmama is something of an unproven quantity, but Obama does bring certain advantages to the table, particularly his credibility among gullible liberals in the US and Europe. The election (or is it ascension?) of Obama to the presidency enables liberals who feel dirty, cheap and ashamed of their country after 8 years of Bush to once again feel morally superior because they’ve voted a black man into office. Now when we go to war and kill millions of people and destroy their countries, it will only be for the most valid reasons, like Israel’s security, Israel’s security, or Israel’s security. America is back on track to being the great, humanitarian, fluffy bunny liberal democracy we have always been, thanks to Obamessiah. Hallelujah!

  7. The american indian MAFIA of aim are today an embarassment to our people. Russell, unfortunately, & so many others are being used by the Che Guevara-Tshirt-wearing-politically-historically-ignorant tools. Comparing our people to the Arabs "palistinians" is laughable if not highly offensive. Despite his arrogance, Mr. Means does not speak for Indian people nor does he speak for the Lakhota. Archaeology proves that Jews have a much more ancient & stronger tie to that land. It is the Arabs who are the invaders/Imperialists much like when the Spanish took over South America. Palestinian Arabs are not indigenous to Palestine. There is not even a P in their language. Arabs weren’t even in so called Palestine until the mid 7th century; a full thousand years after Palestine's already 1,300 year Jewish history. The majority (60%) of Israelis are comprised of Sephardic+Mizrachi Mid-East Jews who were kicked out of their homelands by the Arabs who, btw – allied themselves with Hitler! See: http://www.tellthechildrenthetruth.com for proof. Israel is a tiny state surrounded by hostile neighbors which have offensively attacked them over & over yet all the Israelis want is to survive. Contrast that with Pali leadership like Hamas (read their Charter) who pledge total destruction+genocide of Jews. The choice of whom to support is clear.

    • Orenda, my repy to "Potawatomi " applies to you. Mr Means makes NO reference to what the descendants of the original native Americans think about Israel.

The circumstances surrounding Israel's creation are given in a 1948 U.N. report: “The UN Report Prepared for Ralphe Bunche”:

Jewish terrorists carried out numerous attacks against the British in the 1940s when Palestine was in British hands, threatening to export their terrorism to Britain itself. The stated goal of the terrorist groups was to force the British out of Palestine and create a Jewish state. Hundreds of thousands of Jews illegally entered Palestine during the 1940s.

Jewish terrorist acts included: plots to blow up British military headquarters, kidnapping and hanging British military officials, killing British policemen, sending letter bombs to British government officials, machine gun attacks on Palestinian cities, bombing hotels, blowing up trains, blowing up oil pipelines, detonating bombs at British embassies, detonating trucks laden with explosives, and bank robbery.

  8. thank you Orenda. Russell Means is an embarrassment – he sounds like a Nazi with his Zionist paranoia.

  9. Yes, there probably isn't a 'P' in their language, but that's because they were designated by a hegemonic text as "Phillistine" which has been passed down through texts and culture and has sedimented in the current translation/nomination "Palestine". Does this reappropriation of a name that was "given" in order to give voice to a people sound like anyone else to you? Russell Means isn't the only one to draw this parallel. Elias Sanbar, a Palestinian theorist, poet and representative to UNESCO has also written about the connection between the need for the disappearance of American Indians to establish a nation and the invisibility of the Palestinian in Israel. And if you're going to rely on archaeological evidence to establish "authenticity", you're remaining complicit with these forces of nomination, with the colonial imperative to taxonomize and place all peoples in an order that is totalizing. An order that is, like Manifest Destiny and Zionism, decreed by theology, but in the case of science, by the secularization of this theology into an enlightened knowledge.

  10. The U.N. report writes: “There appears to be no way to control the Jews or their determinations to drive all of the Arabs out of Jerusalem by force if necessary.

“The initial Arab response to Jewish harassment over the past year has been very slow in coming, but it seems to be quite inevitable, and a terrible civil war is foreseen.

“The Arabs, initially living in peace with the Jewish minority, have been increasingly victimized by the Jews who, now that the British are leaving, are turning their savage behavior against them.”

The Stern Gang was one of the most active terrorist Jewish groups during the 1940s, whose stated goal was to “forcibly evict the British authorities from Palestine, allowing unrestricted immigration of Jews and the formation of a Jewish state”.

    Posted by Richard | November 5, 2009, 3:40 am
    • The report also says that: “As many of the Zionists are Russian or Polish in origin, these Communist Russians have been received gladly by the Jewish extremists and quickly blend in with the local populations. Soviet interest in MIDDLE EAST OIL and an overriding interest in obtaining WARM-WATER PORTS are a prime factor in their interest in a Jewish state in Palestine.”

The original Jews were ARABS, without a land – just a religion! Israel/Palestine was originally called Canaan, and the inhabitants were the Canaanites. However, "God" told the Israelites to leave Egypt, trek across the desert to Canaan, kill every man, woman, and child in that country, and take the land for themselves.

  11. Hello: I agree wholeheartedly with the Lakota people who see Russell Means as an embarrasment, particularly when it comes to his alliances and international political views, which are , to say the least, based on inaccurate facts and strong opinions which have been formed over the years based on the propaganda of groups such as the PLO and Hamas. His stance on Israel is very irrational.

Indeed, the oppressors throught the Middle East and North Africa are without a doubt the Arabs, and the Israeli are one of the oppressed groups which also include the Kurds and the Berbers. It is not known to a lot of people that 50% of the population of Israel is Mezrahim, having fled North Africa (Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco) at the time of their independence for fear of mistreatment by Arabs. The Jewish Berber population of Israel is sizeable, and this is why Berbers and Tuareg people of Africa for the most part side with the plight of Israel, knowing full well the malevolent intent of Arabs towards all those who resist their rule.
