CNN reports that a rally for Gaza in New York City this afternoon turned violent, resulting in the arrests of nine people. Allegedly, the conflict was between two protesters.
But of course, the cops had to go and use mace. According to one participant:
“The police pushed us out onto the avenue, and as we were walking down the avenue … they charged with horses on the sidewalks and they charged with their own bodies and pushed in, and a riot started,” he said.
Fox reported on NYC’s Sunday rallies as well, choosing rather to focus on what pro-Israel supporters were wearing:
Demonstrators wore red baseball hats in solidarity with Israelis who go on red alert at rocket attacks and chanted, “Israel yes, Hamas no!”
The Indypendent, on the other hand, chose to focus on what rally participants were saying, interviewing several and reporting on actions. Incidentally, they also pointed out the following, about a group of Palestinian-led youths:
As the small group of pro-Palestine protesters zigged and zagged through the streets of the Theater District, a police officer who had previously been seen pushing some of the young demonstrators threatened to get his scooter and “run them over.” Eventually, the cat and mouse game ended with most of the breakaway marchers running into a subway station.

Thanks for posting this! I was going to go to the march today, but missed it. The Indypendent gave better coverage of the event
