OBAMA: My bad, I’m actually going to need a second term to close gitmo and do other stuff you somehow got the idea I was going to do…

Sorry. No gitmo closure within the first 100 days. Also: the hard-on for Israel continues; there will be no clean break from Bush policies; Cheney gives “pretty good advice”; and country continues obssession with the fucking dog. [ABC News]

  1. Qui Qui, I hope you realize that closing down gitmo is a lot more involved and complex, as Obama stated, than you are really aware of.

Perhaps you should spend less time day dreaming about hooking up with revolutionaries and more time actually becoming knowledgable about the issues which you often write about.

  2. What MILF said.

Where exactly do you send people that you can’t just hold onto forever, but that no country wants to take back?

This isn’t the world’s easiest issue.

  3. Lol, god damn Qui Qui, do you know anything about how the world works OUTSIDE of the lovely confines of a University?

    Anywhere but Guantanamo.

Obviously you start to follow international law. The first step would be to free them, the second step would be giving them a refuge and the third to take financial, medical etc. responsibility for the inhumane treatment the former administration has put upon them.

Many of the prisoners are civilians that were seemingly randomly abducted from foreign soil without any support from international conventions. It’s no different from the Somalia pirates, the guerillla fighters in the niger delta or the Farc in legality.
