Reuters: Israeli Forces Enter Gaza

From Al-Jazeera Twitter: Reuters news agency reports Palestinian witnesses as saying Israeli ground forces enter Gaza. We’ll follow and report updates. In Beit Hanoun, eyewitnesses are giving preliminary accounts that tanks entered the gates at the Northern border and are parked. Apache strikes and flares going off on border, according to Al-Jazeera, International. Much tank activity reported near border.

Israeli army confirmed it is commencing an invasion. It told Palestinians near the border to flee to safer areas (like where in Gaza?) for two days. They are saying it will be limited to narrow targets such as Hamas HQ.

A full invasion will only mean more Palestinian victims. Israelis and Palestinians are only further threatened by Israeli billigerency. Hamas is acting like a typical organic insurgency, trying to provoke the colonial power to overstep, and overcommit. Israel knows this and will avoid a protracted battle, which would cause Israel and the ruling Kadima party politically.

Israel has been planning this for some time and will not act rashly. It suffers from the momentum of anti-Palestinian irrationality — the Zionist premise that Palestinians have no rights in their historic homeland and will only disappear after time goes on. When will they realize that their violence has only failed to make them safer?

  3. Obviously, This is exactly what Hamas wanted. Israel has fallen for the bate in the same way the United States did! Bush’s apparent lack of reaction just shows that. Then look back at Great Britain and how they were able to stop terrorism from Northern Ireland. This “not speaking up” will alos intensify the hatred that Arab Nations have against us. We are also falling for the bate by not speaking up so the Arab Nations will again have more hatred for us. Obama has hugh burdent to speak up as soon as he is in office or this issue might become the next huge crisis.
