Unprecedented protest in Kuwait

As you all know, there are many protests going on worldwide against the slaughter in Gaza. Popular opinion–even popular opinion here, in the U.S. among Democrats as Will wrote about two days ago–is proving starkingly different from the way our “representatives” are acting. The realization that such a disconnect can exist even at the most urgent of moments is testament to how rancid the world’s political system has become. This will never be forgotten.

From the Angry Arab, on a protest in Kuwait:

Al-Arabiya TV [a network owned by a Saudi royal family member, and created as a counter to Al-Jazeera and to please the U.S.] was talking to its correspondent in Kuwait. The correspondent reported on the massive demonstration for Gaza in Kuwait. He said, nay exclaimed, that it was indeed the largest demonstration in Kuwait’s history. He said that liberals and conservatives, Sunnis and Shi`ites, religious people and secularists all turned out in full force, along with Asian workers. He was going on about the unprecedented nature of the demonstration when he was interrupted in mid-sentence and told to shut up.

  3. What Anonymous means is that you can’t say “Asian workers” without it being a dirty word.

  4. You should leave your home QuiQui to make more living space for the Zionists.

  5. My mom calls this channel Al Abreyah, which explains it all. Who the F cares to see King Abdallah of Saudi greet a Palestinian patient in a Saudi Hospital while he gave Livni the green light to attack

  7. I love kabobfest. I used to have trouble identifying with being arab after 9/11, but day by day .. with the violence in palestine, its completely switched for me. i'm having trouble saying i'm american with pride. ugh, hopefully the politicians will hear the outcry of popular opinion & stop this genocide (especially STOP FUNDING this!).

  8. Get the Iranians (et. al.) to stop funding the rocket attacks on civilians, and Israel won’t respond to them.

Or tell me what you think they’re accomplishing, besides bringing down the Israeli hammer, and undermining any potential sympathy for Palestinians.

  9. I’m not going to follow a bunch of blind links, Ali. What point are you trying to make? Maybe a quick summary for each link, so I would know whether it’s relevant to anything.

Do your links say Iran doesn’t fund Hamas? Do they say that rocketing civilians is part of a shrewd, effective strategy? Do they say that Sderot is populated by militants who are keeping Palestinians in misery?

    Try this:
HAMAS receives funding from Palestinian expatriates, Iran, and private benefactors in Saudi Arabia and other moderate Arab states.

  10. Roy, you will be fine if you check the Haartez link

  11. I did check the Haaretz link. It didn’t say anything about where the rockets come from or who funds them.

It’s a bunch of opinion pieces about how hard life is for the Palestinians, which isn’t at issue.
