A Website to Spread Al Jazeera English.

Finally, there is a website that helps viewers generate pressure on American cable and satellite TV providers who have not included Al Jazeera English in their offerings. Some fear consumer backlash or say there is not enough demand.

It should at least be available to American viewers to decide, rather than letting the corporations that have their fingers on the control of information decide. I find the network to be much more nuanced and cosmopolitan than any other news network in the cable lineup. This is something Americans urgently need in their junky media diets.

If the cable and satellite companies do not respond, the next step would have to be boycott. I already cut my cable subscription because it does not think Al Jazeera English is worth carrying.

  5. I clearly meant the new comments format, not the actual comments. I don't think Yaman's or Will's comments were especially insightful.

  7. "It should at least be available to American viewers to decide" Yes, but you're not letting American viewers decide. You want to impose it on the public with a forced mandate. We;ve had this conversation before, and you've lost every time. Al Jazeera is not commercially viable in America.

  8. Are you kidding Al Jazeera English is awesome, there is a huuuuuuuuuuuuge audience for it. I only watch CNN or FOX news when I want a good chuckle =P

  9. Actually, outside of your kook fringe, there is no audience for al Jazeera. You really should step outside yourself for a minute to see how ridiculous you sound. This would be like printing the Soviet Pravda in the US during the Cold War.

  10. CNN, FOX, BBC among others broadcast freely in the Arab world, both in Arabic and in English, despite their diminished credibility and unpopularity. It's ironic that freedom of the press is becoming more applicable in the Arab world than in the so-called World's Biggest Democracy!

  11. "Actually, outside of your kook fringe, there is no audience for al Jazeera." Kook fringe? =P There is a huge demand for reliable reporting in the United States, and Al Jazeera English could fill that gap for the American audience. Not everyone in the United States is a racist bigot like you seem to think.
