Can they really get any more pathetic? Could the guy at least bother to shave? And which Bollywood song is ever sung in English? They’d be better off singing it in Hebrew. You’d think with the $900 million/year they’ve been making lately from the Indians (think about how many people for how long that amount could feed), at least their music video production could improve.

What is it meant to be? Is it just meant to be a music video or is it meant to be part of a Bolywood movie? As someone of Indian heritage, it's cringe-worthy to watch.
Posted by Shafiq | March 15, 2009, 12:16 pmits a promo video i think.
Posted by sunbula | March 15, 2009, 1:58 pmWhat the hell are they promoting??!! This doesn't make sense and almost feels insulting
Posted by SouthAsianReader | March 16, 2009, 12:32 amMaybe its a joke? lol. But can someone explain why this is posted on Kabobfest?
Posted by Lena | March 16, 2009, 12:33 amRead the post its explained.
Posted by Arayus | March 16, 2009, 1:03 amIt relates to Israel, and anything on earth that relates to Israel in some sort of negative light will end up on Kabobfest. Because, as established earlier by one of the KabobFest writers, while they have a "Love-hate" relationship with the other countries in the region (due to authoritarian crackdowns, undemocratic minority rule, few individual liberties, etc.), Israel will never be anything but a "hate-hate" relationship, despite the fact that when it comes to human rights, Israel is near the best in the Middle East, and its Arab citizens have ardently fought proposals to have their governance transferred to another country (same land, just under the jurisdiction of a different government). Also, there's occasionally been an anti-Hindu current on left-wing Muslim/Arab political blogs (a case where the atrocities committed by both sides dwarf anything involved in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict by far), so reminding people that Israel and India work together hits the spot, too.
Posted by Joe | March 16, 2009, 12:01 pmAs to Sunbula's original post about how many people $900 million could feed: A) It wouldn't put much of a dent into Indian poverty. India's a huge country. B) Are you seriously implying India doesn't need a military? What. The. Fuck? Seriously, do you have any idea what India's security situation is like? I mean, a fucking Maoist insurgency controls close to 1/4th of their territory. The Straits of Malacca, almost in their backyard, is one of the most crucial strategic waterways in the world. I could go on. And on. And on. And you're going to tell me that India's problem is *too much military spending*? Seriously? …SERIOUSLY?
Posted by Joe | March 16, 2009, 12:06 pmDinga dinga dinga dee?
Posted by eagle007blogger | March 16, 2009, 5:20 pmYes, Arayus. I see that there is an explanation. But it doesn't answer my question. I thought Kabobfest focused either on politics or culture of the Middle East with of course a monopoly on Palestinian-Israeli issues…so this attempt to ridicule Indian music videos seems a bit off, that was my point. Anyways, what is so fundamentally wrong with using English and spending so much money on bollywood? Seriously, Arabs are the last to talk…look at what the Gulf spends money on while the Muslim population reaks in poverty, do I have to mention Palestine? Do you know who donates the most to Palestinians? Its not Saudi, I can tell you that. Palestinians have received more than $2.2 billion in U.S. economic assistance via USAID projects – more than from any other donor country.
Posted by Lena | March 16, 2009, 7:35 pmThis isint an Indian music video, its an Israeli music video thats why their is mockery.
Posted by Arayus | March 16, 2009, 11:07 pmOh okay. That wasn't clear. So this video is a mockery of India's purchase of weapons from Israel…because that is so terrible? And again, that is also not explained aside from the fact that India has a lot of poor people. That doesn't make India uniqe in that respect really (look at Iran or North Korea) unless it is more a question of from where they are purchasing the weapons (Israel) I don't know, I'm trying to understand the mockery. Why is it okay for Iran to purchase from Russa, or Pakistan/Israel from the U.S but its all of a sudden stupid for India to purchase from Israel?
Posted by Lena | March 16, 2009, 11:24 pmSorry Lena if my previous post sounded condescending it wasn't meant to be. I think the intention of the post was to look at how retarded this music video is and thats it. The 900 million dollars on military aid thing was supposed to be a joke bout how with all that money coming from India to Israel they could have made a better music video =P. I don't think this post had anything to do with singling out a country for spending money on arms rather than food, any country that does not put its people first is doomed to fail. And you are completely right that the Arabs don't give a shit about the Palestinians. The Arab people and Muslims in general may care a lot, but their leaders only use the Palestinians as political pawns to further their own selfish ambitions. Furthermore, it is true that the US with our tax dollars is giving the Palestinians billions of dollars, however we are leaving one very critical part of the scenario out. This critical factor is that the Israelis occupy the West Bank and Gaza and under international law are obligated to ensure that the people they occupy are taken care of. Israel does not provide even 1% of what it is supposed to provide. Under international law Israel is supposed to maintain the infrastructure of the occupied territories and the health of the people their as well up to the standards of its own citizens. What Israel has managed to do is get the U.S tax payer and other Western tax payers to foot the expense for them and completely shirk their responsibility as occupiers.
Posted by Arayus | March 16, 2009, 11:42 pmIt's not about who is purchasing what…or why one nation needs weapons, etc… The absurdity really lies in why Israel is making a (poor class) bollywood-esque video for India. What is the message there? Mind you, it's not surprising that India is an ally of Israel… especially to piss off its Muslim neighbor.. plus, Israel has close ties to the Western world, which India thinks it can use to deepen the difference between "us" (Westerners) and "them" (Islamic radicals). It's not surprising.
Posted by SouthAsianReader | March 17, 2009, 6:56 pmThat seems like something my Pakistani friends would say. A lot of Pakistani national goals are aimed at competing with India and several of their leaders – while could care less about their own people's welfare or even Islam – are too busy hating India than develop their own country. So India and Pakistan are both guilty on the same issue. The absurdity still for me is WHAT IS THE BIG DEAL about this video? lol I guess it's just a matter of preference of what counts as worthy discussion because I don't see the significance of this post, the video, or the issue of 'why israel is making a poor class bollywood video for India' and if i wanted to see a retarded video(s) I would look at Melody TV first thing.
Posted by Lena | March 18, 2009, 12:14 amBet that makeshift missile was made out of a strip pole which was a gift from Israel.
Posted by Anon | March 18, 2009, 12:53 amSince when does being on the internet make something a big deal? There have been a ton of posts on this site about crappy music videos why take issue now?
Posted by Nadia | March 18, 2009, 1:08 ami think she is just saying this post isn't clear. and that arabs are the kings of crappy music videos
Posted by Sahar | March 18, 2009, 11:31 pm"that arabs are the kings of crappy music videos " And there's been dozens of posts(possibly hundreds) about those crappy videos on this site. So why get butthurt about it now? Also I just actually watched the clip, yes it's seriously bad enough to be in that league. Embarrassing pop culture is pretty entertaining, fusion anything in music almost always results in a crime against humanity, and it's an issue that deserves attention, I don't see why that is hard to understand.
