Arabic Music Video Shows Mexico Some Love

Here is a recent music video by Egyptian rising star Mahmoud el 3esely (محمود العسيلى) who just released a new album, the album was accompanied by this music video. “Tool Ma Inti Ganby” is pretty catchy song. Mahmoud manged to make a good song and uses music that defies the long Arabic pop tradition of making mediocre Karaoke music. This music video has many themes but it starts with the dude being bored and his girl reading some fashion magazine, as time passes by he persuades her to embark in a journey. The Journey takes them into many scenic places including exotic waterfalls, mysterious Arabian desert, Southern Egyptian villages and Mexican historical neighborhood. The video is unique because it was released 10 days prior to the spread of the Mexican linked swine flu pandemic. “Tool Ma Inti Ganby”, to my knowledge is the first Arabic music video to feature a Mexican theme, even a crew of Mexican mariachis graces the music video. This serves as a reminder of yet another stereotypical defense of the Mexican Nation. The video comes to us from Egypt, the one country that authorized the slaughter of 300,000 swine. The Mexican theme shows up at 2:40

P.S. I think Mahmoud’s choppy looks were only made worse by the gorgeous but malnourished model.

  3. Hakim did that duo a few years ago with the Puerto Rican female singer, but I dont think it has a Latino theme. I dont remember the name of the song, went something like "………Oh ya gelbi…." (like a million Arabic songs) but was in Spanish and Arabic

  6. Yes, Olga Tanon is her name, it was hot back then, but I do not recall seeing any Spanish themes, but rather Arabic and Spanish lyrics. They are many Spanish influenced Arabic songs…Elin Khalaf, a Lebanese singer claims she and Amr Diab were pioneers in making the Spanish style hip in the Arab world

  7. The Um Kalthoum song toward the end refers to being drunk with love and losing sight…I am guessing the random the song suggests that nothing happened and the whole adventure was just a dream! Thanks

  9. Hakim and Olga Tannon are on the same record label (Universal?). Word is they are trying to get him a duo with J-lo too. Yasser Habib also had an Arabic/Spanish combo hit a few years ago that was basically a re-make of Carnival (made famous by celia cruz). The Diana's version of El Hilwa Di was also kinda spanishized and the video was probably shot in the Caribbean (cuba?). Amer Diab definitely was all over the spanish influences for a long time (especially the 'Amareen album and on). Of course that was the album with a duo with Greek singer Angela Dimitriou. :P I am partial to some of the Hindi-Arabic combo hits, Nari Nari- Hisham Abbas, Harba Wine- Aamar and Cheb Khalid, and that song by May Hariri (jani?).

  10. That is all good and well, however… We have the little problem of fascist stats (Israel/US) murdering at will all over the Middle East. Is it me or the number of fascist occupations are in the rise the in Middle East? —————– I invite you to come to Michigan Student Assembly tonight (Wed 13 May 2009, 3rd floor of the Michigan Union at 6:00 PM) and take a stand against Israel. Demand serious action against the fascist State of Israel. Boycott movement is growing all over the world. Be a serious part of the Boycott Israel movement. Come to Michigan Student Assembly tonight (Wed 13 May 2009, 3rd floor of the Michigan Union at 6:00 PM,) and demand boycott of Israel at all U of M campuses.

  11. I saw the video and honestly, the poster on the back does not replace the beuty of the real San Miguel de Allende. it is nice that he put the name there, I hope next time if he does a video, he could get the oportunitty to go to Mexico. He wont regret it!! Mexico is beutiful. that's why it is #1 detination as well as Fiji islands *(according to magazines). He should go to cancun, mexico city, San miguel Allende, Islas Careyes, Huasca Hidalgo well known as Magic Town. Search for those places at google or you tube. Hidra waves an Emirati company had been investing millions of dollars at Puerto vallarta Mexico, they want a little Dubai at Mexico. I say litlle, because italian, and american inverstors as well as mexican investors took the rest of Puerto vallarta. I know companies from UAE are trying to buy more properties at diferent places at mexico. to expand their tourist emporio. You can find all this info on the net as well. Olga tanon is the puertorican singer that sings with him many years ago. Honestly I dont know who was the pyoner w/spanish arab songs. but the only song that I heard was the one w/olga tanon.
