nice post yaman. bibi is just as bad as liberman, but also livni is just as bad as bibi, and mertz is a joke of being "leftest." What is happening through the government and civil society is very scary. An 'autonomous' province is isreal isn't really any different from what is existing on the ground, however, now there is still hope for an end to this system.

i don't think that israel is going to make any serious "offer" in peace negotiations, but if they do make some sort of offer to formally take palestinian sovereignty and maintain military occupation and colonialization, i hope that the pa does not sign.

Have you ever actually been to Israel and Palestine?

As a Jew, I've actually been there — and a huge chunk of Israelis are deeply, irredeemably racist people who get off on the idea of Palestinian suffering. Innocent Palestinians often come under attack from illegal Israeli settlers.

All states need armies. Period.

These conditions are non-starters.

These conditions are not threats to the Palestinian people – some people just want to maintain the abilities to make war against Israel, so that a future Palestinian state can be used to launch wars – why should Israel allow that?

The Palestinians have lost the war to destroy Israel. Come on people, its over. Let there be peace.

Seems like they're just maintaining the status quo under a psuedo-state. What's worse- years from now, Israeli supporters will use Netanyahu's speech as an offer of "peace" that the Palestinians rejected it… again. This is turning into a never-ending joke.

I agree that Bib is no better. His comment "I call on you, our Palestinian neighbors, and to the leadership of the Palestinian Authority: Let us begin peace negotiations immediately, without preconditions," he said. "Israel is committed to international agreements and expects all the other parties to fulfill their obligations as well."

Whatever gave him that idea (?) yet he is attaching significant conditions: that the Palestine be demilitarized, and that it recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

As much as I hate Arafat for his stupidity, this is not the two-state solution he had envisioned when signing Oslo. This is the two-state solution Israel had envisioned and has been working to materialize ever since.
