Spotted in Gaza…Bacon!

Soar2

On a nice chill day in Gaza, as I headed to the Government Complex in downtown Gaza to check on my travel status, I spotted this dude and I had to take a picture with my cellphone camera of the funny T-shirt message printed on his shirt. I approached him to explain what it says on his T-shirt, but then I changed my mind and did not tell him what it means instead I said to him n Arabic “It’s Funny” Yes “Bacon Makes Everything Better” even the siege in Gaza.

Only of the gaurds knew what his t-shirt says…

  1. I love it. . .good spot! It reminds of a trip to Sidon in South Lebanon, supposedly a 'conservative' city. As soon as I stepped out the car, I was greeted by a CD seller wearing a t-shirt with a massive marijuana leaf and the slogan "A friend with weed is a friend indeed" !

  2. Well, the shirt is orange. It was probably smuggled into Gaza by Lebanese FPM, right? Actually, that guy looks kinda Lebanese to me… he's probably a spy.

    • I tried, but he was like upset when I tried to tell him, but then two days later he showed up wearing the same t-shirt. I took the shot then…maybe he is trying to introduce Swine Flu to Gaza!

  6. Bacon!

Can you imagine going your entire life without knowing the wonderful taste of bacon and eggs? Or a big, nice BLT? Or a bacon-cheeseburger? Or…..

Would Hamas break your legs or chop off your fingers if they caught you eating bacon?

    • I assume Christian Palestinians eat bacon. But maybe it's only allowed on the west bank…

    • I bet Will used to eat bacon, until he stopped to show solidarity with his Muslim brethren…

      • Altho Eagle's comments are light hearted (right Eagle?), I wonder if they also reflect a common misconception re Hamas. . .that is, that they are a sort of Arab version of the Taliban, looking to impose shraia on everyone under their control. While that may be the case within certain sections of the movement, (and I know there have been recent documentations of alleged problems with so called "un-islamic" school clothing) . . .Hamas is essentially a movement of nationalism cloaked in religious ideology, right? (or not right? what do you think?) Waaaaaay different from the sort of "morality police" viewpoint which Eagle's last line appears to suggest?

I mean, look what happened to the guys in Rafah who tried to set up a real islamic caliphate a few months back. . .

    • No, but these guys might:

Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu has been toiling for decades to make Israel a
Halachic state (one that adheres to Jewish religious law). The former
chief Sephardi rabbi (from 1983 to 1993) was one of five men who founded
the Brit Hakanaim – the Covenant of Zealots – an underground
organization of the early 1950s that attacked non-kosher butcher shops
and torched cars that were driven on the Sabbath.
