It’s amazing how progressive Arab Music videos have gotten. I am impressed whenever a Westerner sees those music videos, they are shocking by how scandalous they are. Look, I am not complaining, these ladies are good looking and know how to “work” their fans by working what they’ve got it. For this stuff to be shown on public TV during peak time, is a problem. So I guess I wasn’t surprised to see during my my trip to Egypt and Gaza that no one watches music videos anymore. When I asked few people about their choice of boycotting music videos, the answer was similar, “they have gotten trashy”
I do not think these videos leave anything for MTV and other western entertainment outlets, in a way by replicating European music and American styles, Arabic music is in danger of losing its voice. Just in time for Thanksgiving to remind us of things we are Not Thankful for. I will let you be the judge of that by watching those steamy Arabic music videos so enough is said, let the Khazwa begin

I've seen horrors on European TV channels, a real live pig sucking a guy's wiener in a music video. Also, Rammstein's latest music video was hardcore porn.
So I think the "trashy" is relative here, if the above videos are the worst Arabic music video then we have nothing to worry about, in that regard at least.
Posted by Anas Qtiesh | November 25, 2009, 7:08 pmThanks Anas, while this might not compare to the pig sucking video…here is an Arabic one with a horse, and a no talent singer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4I4sYdN2Z8
Posted by Hanitizer | November 26, 2009, 7:11 am"Progressive" is not how I'd describe these music videos.
Posted by Kamal | November 26, 2009, 1:02 amIts really wierd I was thinking the exact same thing earlier this week. I mean if people saw this stuff 10 -15 years ago there would really be a Khazwa.
Posted by Roz | November 26, 2009, 4:47 pmand what's up with the children's songs? Nancy and Haifa. Haifa has a new one….like8minutes long. baba fain and another one.
Posted by Lena | November 27, 2009, 1:23 amelissar actually has one decent song. this one isn't a song. it's just a video of her shaking. not even dancing.
Posted by Lena | November 27, 2009, 1:31 amElissar's actual MUSIC video, as oppose to that 'dance video' up there
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWYvdnmG5KU she has a good voice too.
Posted by Lena | November 27, 2009, 1:34 amI have seen this music video and I also liked it…but the horror of the shake it video cannot be redeemed by a one good song. I dig her new 7ilwa ya Elissar song. Thanks
Posted by Hanitizer | November 27, 2009, 4:45 amI like the Sandy Eyak video best out of the three, her singing is best. The Myriam Fares video is pretty catchy. I don't like the Elissar video.
Posted by eagle007blogger | November 28, 2009, 3:54 amYou raise a good point but I think time will tell. In the West, when rock & roll first started it was very much a counter-culture movement. At the time most people were still into the big-band productions, jazz and a variety of other more tame and socially acceptable forms of music. And yet Rock & Roll changed western society forever. This may be a start of some kind of underground cultural movement, or it may be nothing but some artists on their way to obscurity

Posted by anticraig | November 30, 2009, 12:59 pmI think you're right in pointing out that Arab music videos are pretty "trashy". Unfortunately, most of them follow the same model, copied from US music videos. I always find it interesting that many very "conservative" Arabs (e.g. in Yemen) find nothing wrong in watching these music videos?
Posted by Max | December 7, 2009, 10:09 pmwell i like them, they are not that bad and the girls are pretty
Posted by arabic music video | December 8, 2009, 11:06 amI’ve never considered that. A nice post to fire up new energy from dancers out there! Worry and fear has kept alot of aspiring dancers by the fence.
