Biden’s Farce of a ‘Peace Mission’ Too Much For Israelis

Minutes after Joe Biden sang Israel’s praises for willingness to reengage in ‘peace talks’ and promised to confront Iran on it’s behalf, the Israeli government rebuffed the VP with an announcement to resume settlement building, effectively derailing his mission.

A few months ago, Netanyahu came to Washington only to outmaneuver and outfox Obama and make him take back his silly talk about how Israel should stop settlement building so that peace talks could resume.

The media was abuzz about it, Netanyahu was further emboldened by the strength of Israel’s fifth column in Washington and by Obama’s cowardice; the president was humiliated and began backtracking by qualifying and apologizing for settlement building.

But that does not seem to be enough for the Israelis; today the kicked sand in the face of their puppet and self-declared Zionist, Joe Biden. Although the support of Biden and politician like him for Israel is what emboldens Israel to commit massacres, violate human rights en mass, and humiliate America’s president and institutions, the Israeli government announced they will build 1600 new homes for Jews only in colonies built on stolen Palestinian land, only minutes after the VP finished ranting about how the US and Israel are inseparable, committing to a hard-line against Iran on Israel’s behalf, and blowing smoke up the world’s butt about Israel’s intentions to negotiate and achieve peace.

Actually, on Monday, the day Biden and Middle East Envoy Mitchell arrived in Jerusalem, Israel tried to provoke the US by announcing the construction of 112 homes in settlements, but apologetic Obama administration sought to down play and justify the move.

Only yesterday, the Time Magazine wrote about the charade of renewing peace talks that Obama and co. are pushing for, explaining that there was no intention for this round of talks to succeed. The Obama administrations only goal was to not be blamed for the lack of trying, basically, the whole thing was a show. But the Israelis would not even grant Obama that pleasure. I have found that the difference between Israel’s right wing and its left is that the hawks are a lot less skilled at playing pretend, and more likely to show Israel’s real face.

Obviously, Obama got Israel to participate in this show in return for not pressuring them to participate in any substantive negotiations, and he got the Palestinian Authority, who knew there was no point in negotiating with Israel, to participate with the threat of cutting off aid to the corrupt gang that is now reigning over the Palestinians and profiteering from foreign aid.

Don’t take me wrong; I’m not too disappointed that the prospect of the talk Bidie promised now looks bleak. On the contrary, those negotiations were not intended to go anywhere –for a change, the Time was right-, and where those negotiations could go is not a good place: The pretences and foundations of this ‘peace process’ that had lasted two decades are diametrically opposed to justice, equality, and the fulfillment of Palestinian rights.

If anything, this is an opportunity for America to see how coward and sold-out its leaders are when it comes to Israel. Obama does not even seem to have to ball to push through with a descent healthcare bill, imagine how far he is from pressuring Israel… definitely not when he has a former Israeli soldier running his Whitehouse. Israel’s acts seem to have touched a nerve, I would not expect much to come out of it, but even the self-described Zionist, meaning morally bankrupt and devoid of any ethics, has for now taken offense to this public insult.
