BP executives unveiled the latest development in his companies decade long to uncover new, renewable sources for energy: Water that can be used as fuel, according to KABOBfest science and technology reporter, Chaim Sugarman.
“We are pleased to announce that developments we made to water and engines over the past decade have finally resulted in cars that run on water, this is truly Beyond Petroleum” said BP CEO, Tony Hayward in a press conference from the coast of Louisiana.
In the initial phase of this campaign, we have developed a prototype in the Gulf of Mexico, which is currently the only known water fuel source. Barring any interruptions from fishermen, environmental activist, or costal residents, BP plans to expand the technology to at least six water bodies off the coasts of Alaska, Barzil, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and China.
Mr. Hayward expressed concern that similar to many new advancements, the future of his company’s newly developed renewable energy source may be hindered by the bureaucratic process. “Although we believed we generally have the support of congress and Washington at large, being that this is an election year, we are afraid that some of our usual allies in congress may back away and hinder our progress as they come under pressure of radical environmentalists and eco-terrorists,” explained Hayward.
In two visits to the gulf coast in one week, president Obama expressed his great pleasure at the way things turned out, “When we surprised, and possibly slighted, our supporters earlier this year when we decided to allow off-shore drilling, we expected to gradually win the support back as gas prices decrease, we had no idea that we were about to turn water itself into oil… I mean short of turning it into wine, I can’t think of a better scenario,” said Obama laughingly to gathered hournalists.
Up next, BP is expected to unveiled a new technology that enables engines to run on birds, although Hayward refused to comment due to patent pending.
