Well, not literally, but the title would be a plausible conclusion if you subject the translation of Kentucky Senator Rand Paul recent remarks to the same journalistic standard the New York Times used to translate Ahmedinijad’s comments about dreaming of a world without Zionism. I just blew your mind there, didn’t I? If not it means you read slowly.
So the Tea Party-packed senator just expressed that he favors cutting foreign aid to all countries, including Israel. This is probably the first time a sitting senator openly calls of ending aid to the apartheid state since Paul Findley of Illinois, who was subsequently ousted by AIPAC.
It has long been a conversation around the water cooler at KABOBfest headquarters, as well as in the whole of the seventh floor, to which only a select few bloggers have access, whether the Tea Party, hot on fiscal responsibility budget cuts, would take up the cause of ending aid to Israel, and of course to Egypt’s despot, although the political discourse would vary greatly between the two.
Despite some hope, the bet was NO. Since the water cooler crowd doubted the motives of the Tea Partiers and attributed much of their firebrand to ignorance, racism, and xenophobia, than to objective, or better yet, ethically driven fiscal responsibility.
Then comes Rand Paul. May be he is a little bit Ron Paul’s son. But of course his proposal drew swift condemnation from both republicans and democrats, reminding us once more that Obama, Palin, and every body in between, have virtually the same morally bankrupt stance on Israel.
Although this may get shut down in the senate, it’s worth keeping an eye on to see if it makes it onto the emails of the Tea Party faithful talking points, with the hope that firebrand rhetoric trumps the hypocrisy inherent to the US political discourse of holding Israel to a different standard. If this issue gains traction with partiers, aid will come to end, given the number of congressmen clamoring for their blessing. At the very least, it will lead to a showdown between the Tea Party and AIPAC… wouldn’t that show be worth the admission price? Popcorn on Fadi…

I'm happy to hear that Rand Paul is carrying forward with some of his promises. This is the position we need to take, let politicians crow all they want about how great Israel is, but when it comes time to cut the check, sorry. This will definitely wipe Israel off the map and bring great stability and prosperity to the Middle East.

Israel doesn't NEED US tax dollars to survive, and has proved capable of defending itself also.>('48,'53,'67,'73 )> The "Little Satan" has 200 nukes, and a muscular pal,," Big Satan"…The Egyptian military may not be as enthusiastic as you are about their chances at

Posted by bush_the_liberator | February 6, 2011, 8:20 pmWe all know that Israel is perfectly capable of waging war. Defunding Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey will actually have more of an impact on Israel. Israel seeks legitimacy, and it will not be legitimate in the eyes of those countries unless they are getting money for it.
On the other hand Israel has an increasing problem with poverty.

Israel is not as wealthy as most people think. It's part of the lore about Israel. Rand Paul knows the lore very well and is playing it for all it's worth.

That's what Rand Paul said, stop all aid to Israel's enemies. I would add all dictatorships.
