Sometimes (usually once a day), Israel does something so stupid, offensive and destructive that we realize Zionism is a far crazier ideology than what we had previously thought.
Yesterday, news reports abounded that the Israeli government has been seriously studying the construction of a man-made island, several kilometers into the Mediterranean Sea, and connect it with a three mile long bridge to the besieged Gaza Strip. The aim? To use this new artificial island as the point of entry for goods into Gaza, rather than through Israel itself.
According to Zionism’s Minister of Transport, Yisrael Katz, the new island will be controlled by international forces for the next 100 years, to ensure Palestinians stop dreaming of exercising sovereignty over their own land.* Apparently the Israeli government has been shopping the idea around, because it claims many ‘entrepreneurs’ are willing to sink hundreds of millions of dollars in this latest monument to colonialist control.
A spokesperson for Katz’s ministry says the design incorporates an airport, seaport, hotels, resorts, and a marina with yachts. You know, for all those rich playboys who have no place to park their yachts in Gaza.
Of course I don’t expect this idea to get anywhere. To me, its an indication of how out of touch with reality Zionism has become-they probably honestly think they can improve Israel’s image by revealing how much time and effort Israeli ministries put into designing surreal new ways to improve the ‘quality of life’ of Palestinians under Israeli occupation.
Here’s a much simpler, cheaper, safer, saner solution: end the siege, and fuck off.
*This is better known as ‘Israel’s security’.

Why would Israel want any relations with Gaza? Should they also open the border to Hizbollah in south Lebanon?
The sane solution is for Israel to have no contact with Hamas and Gaza.
