The recent shooting and bombing in Norway have elicited shock and horror internationally. The gunning down of dozens of teenagers, children really, by Anders Breivik was a random and senseless act of mass murder designed to call attention to his radical project to change Europe. The fact that Breivik is seen as a hero in some circles is informative and alarming. That a person could consider murdering unarmed children as the act of bravery needed to launch a new Europe is the sort of perverted revolution that I want no part in. But while Breivik’s actions heighten my sense of bewilderment at the deeds human beings can commit, in my eyes, he’s a lunatic and a lone wolf, and therefore not a part of my political landscape in the way the movement for liberation in Libya is, for example. What is more disturbing is the reaction of the MSM.
Instead of framing Breivik as a simpering and self-righteous coward (he didn’t, for example, decide to attack a military barrack or the parliament that he claims to want to change so much and which would have offered a more sizeable resistance), the MSM have floated veiled congratulations and approvals of his anti-immigration motives. The idea that multiculturalism doesn’t work has been hammered into countless headlines since the shooting. Presumably because Breivik, as a blonde-haired blue-eyed model of the real Norwegian, doesn’t like multiculturalism and Muslims in particular, and therefore his opinion represents that of real Norwegians.
Given Breivik’s firm ideological stance on the far-right of the political spectrum, and his enchantment and chilling naivete with
respect to pop-pundits and infotainment, it is a wonder his motives are taken seriously. Rather than frame Breivik as he unwittingly frames himself in his 1500 page screed, an intellectually-anemic misfit dazzled by the puerile and ad-hoc excretions of news pundits like Pam Geller and Robert Spencer and FOX News’ Frank Gaffney, he is trotted out as, not a baby-killer on an extravagant scale, but the last angry man, the man that sees Europe as it truly should be.
Instead, the MSM should call Breivik out for the what he really is. Like neo-Nazi and KKK members from America to Europe, he is not the last angry man, but one on the margins of changes in society. The system of multiculturalism is imperfect, to be sure, but it is vital, robust, and growing along with the increased integration of financial markets and global industrial/technological frameworks. Immigration and multiculturalism are an asset, especially given the specialized skill sets needed in a globalized information age. And it is only set to increase along with the rise of the BRIC countries. Breivik and the like aren’t the last great hope, or knight as he calls himself, for Europe. They’re the ones who didn’t get invited to the party and are upset enough to crash it. Or, to put it another way, in this brave new world they simply can’t compete. More mundane than a Knight Templar as an analogy, but more accurate, in my opinion.

No one is calling this guy a hero. No one! That's the first lie of this article. Multiculturalism is a failure for all to see, as long as one's agendas don't get in the way of their vision. Facts like rape statistics in Norway scream this proof out loud and clear. This guy might be a nutjob (which he probably isn't), but many of his statements are impossible to dismiss.
