In a NYTimes article about a brand new research university being built in the Saudi Arabian desert and meant to compete with the best Western universities in research.

"Israelis, barred by law from visiting Saudi Arabia, will not be able to collaborate with the university."

I wonder if this refers to Israelis or only Israeli Jews... Looks like things haven't changed all that much in Saudi Arabia. I suppose the university's key research activities will include most optimal decapitation techniques, IED construction and other tools of the trade.

I can back that up. American Jews are frequent travelers to the Gulf, especially for business activities. I don't know any Jews who have gone there on vacation yet, but I'm sure it's going to happen. In fact, some Jewish organizations are already discussing with the governments the establishment of Jewish synagogues, or the rebuilding of those destroyed by Arab mobs after 1948, but these would probably be restricted to "foreigner only" hotels and resorts.

The only Jews that I know of who CAN'T go to the Gulf countries are those with Israeli passports.

Let me tell you first hand that in ALL GCC countries there are PLENTY of american passport holders that are jewish...

As a surfer, i was thrilled to hear this guy was an arab, but this is unverified, i've tried to google his heritage, and come up empty... i think it was just a case of sensationalism to get sales, webhits, whatever!
