A few items for your weekend blood pressure, in case it’s currently low:

Pro-Israel, Neo-Con Magazine: Let’s Kill Some Journalists!

Israeli-American fascism is alive and well. The Likudnik Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA), which has boasted supporters such as Dick Cheney, John Bolton, Douglas Feith and Richard Perle, ran an article suggesting that in future wars the media could be justifiable targets of military operations. The author, a former US army officer (surprise!), wrote:

Although it seems unthinkable now, future wars may require censorship, news blackouts and, ultimately, military attacks on the partisan media. Perceiving themselves as superior beings, journalists have positioned themselves as protected-species combatants. But freedom of the press stops when its abuse kills our soldiers and strengthens our enemies.

Um, no, it is not unthinkable. The US and Israeli armies already censor, blackout and attack ‘partisan media.’ What is unthinkable is such open discussion of inherently criminal logic. He is calling for attacks against civilians.

He does not just mean “journalists” who use blind hatred towards incitement, but those whose reporting makes unpopular wars fought abroad. The article, then, really suggests that censoring or killing those in the public sphere whose ideas challenge a belligerent’s war aims is justified. This is disgusting and should be condemned in the strongest terms.

Major Breakthough in Electoral Desperation Tactics.

You ever get the feeling the UN investigation into the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese PM Rafik Al-Hariri is a political light saber, a weapon flipped on when needed? When the United States needed to reign in Syria, it was the leading culprit in the investigation. Well now, ‘inside sources’ are suggesting major new evidence that implicates, guess who, Hizbollah. And guess when, two weeks before parliamentary elections. Guess what? The party of God and its allies are expected to finish strong in them.

And the narrative of this “leak” hinges on an Iranian-trained, Hizbollah ringleader who used a cell phone reserved for the operation to call his love-interest. Right.

These accusations will be met with utter skepticism, I am sure, especially since the tribunal overseeing the investigation released four prime suspects after holding them for years. Makes one wonder about its integrity.

Also, I doubt this would be as big of a bombshell as it seems even if true. While many would care and geo-political pressures may come to bear, would it be enough to significantly shift the polls or seriously weaken Hizb? Probably not, but someone is trying to put the heat on. Too bad it reeks of desperation and only further politicizes an overly-politicized investigation, one that at best may prove inconclusive.

With all this electoral manipulation going on, it’s a relief the master manipulator is staying clear. The VP of the United States personally reassured the Lebanese during a special trip there that America will not interfere in the Lebanese elections — except that they will probably cut aid if the wrong party (of God) wins. An this was hinted at during the special trip the Vice-President made to the small country to remind them the United States will not interfere.

Cheney: Please Go Back to the Undisclosed Location You Crawled Out From.

“Obama, I’m coming for you!”
I’m all for respecting my elders, except for the war criminals.

Will someone make Dick Cheney shut the FUCK up?! His no-good scheming ass barely saw the sun for years when he was running the country as Vice-President. He was busy sending his monkey boy-President to make a fool of himself for the cameras.

Now, he’s trying to clean up the scene of the crime by hitting the public stage and putting together a lucrative book deal (which I doubt will contain one revelatory insight not designed for some strategic communication effect).

True, some Republicans wants him to shut up before he creeps out what few sane partisans they have left in the tent. Of course, the creepiest are welcoming back their old leader as the only non-Rush light of the party.

Some say he rattled President Obama, forcing the President on the defensive. I welcome that. And I laugh at Cheney’s attempt to upstage Obama with his simultaneous speech on national security. How silly.

This is the price for Democratic wimpiness. Instead of pushing for investigations into and serious prosecutions of the countless legal transgressions at the highest echelons of the previous administration, they gave Cheney the opportunity to come out swinging, and now they got them a pebble in the shoe, and its a crusty, fleshy, glowy white pebble.

Like everything else the Bush administration did, they failed in that, too. North Korea easily played the six-party talks, giving Cheney extra discomfort, possibly in the form of heart palpitations.

Thump, thump.

The Obama camp is seemingly following in the soft footsteps of Wimp Jr. They named as the new US envoy on North Korea, Stephen Bosworth.

Admittedly, I know very little of the man, and even less about Obama’s foreign policy towards NK. But, it is quite clear from the picture above that we need someone much tougher in the envoy position.

If Cheney were running the show, he’d being in a real Bosworth: the Boz. Besides being tough, he is considered a screen god in North Korea. He could therefore be a boost to American soft power efforts — if they decide to go that weakling route.

FADI: american politics sickens me. clearly she’s being tokenized.

WILL: Did McCain throw the election away? Or is this going to make Obama’s “change” rhetoric carry less weight?

With 5 kids, she’s going to get the American teitas’ votes. She is married to a native dude — albeit one who works for an oil manufacturer.

But, ideologically, she’s a scary nutball who will gut out government even more then Bush did.

As for looks, she’s no Ségolène Royal. But she’s much better to look at than John “Fire Marshall Bill” McCain.

Will Biden smoke her in debates?

MAYTHA: I don’t know who’s scarier as an american veep-cheney or her? someone who can screw up shit up because they know what they are doing or someone who can screw up shit up because they dont know what they are doing.

PROGRAMMER BUYDATTI: She’s clearly tokenized. Much more experienced folks were passed up just because she’s a woman who’s young and easy on the eyes.

I haven’t heard her speak — but based on substance, Biden would smoke her in a debate. She’s a newbie. Unless she can deliver speech like Obama, she’s just good to look at.

I’m finding it hard to believe that Americans can be so dumb as to eat this shit up. She’s clearly being used to market McCain to a diff audience. It’s a desperate attempt to appear as relevant as Obama.

Pathetic.

FAYYAD: I just heard a broadcast of her speach on Day to Day, Buydatti, I know Barack Obama, and she’s no barack obama…. Haha, I’m funny. She actually sounded a lot more like miss north Carolina. BTW, she was runner up for Miss Alaska, and she played on a basketball team in HS that won state… She ran for city council of small town, then mayor, and all of sudden governor. She practically ran agains the republican party, she claims to be a reformer, but some one on NPR said that’s easy to say since she’s the only un-indicted republican politician in the state.

She really does not sound elequent, informed, or deplomatic. She speaks in a way that makes her appealing in states with 5 electoral votes or less only. She got this massive applaud when she decalred her acceptance of the VP slot on the 88th anniversary for women’s voting rights, as if she was miss suffrage. My only concern is that Biden will get caught looking at his watch in the debate with her, that is if he accepts to debate her.

To answer Will’s questions, McCain just made a really dumb-smart move. He tokenized her to specifically go after two demographics, former femal supporters of Hilary, and evangelicals. He knows his chances went down against Obama, especially agains the Obama-Biden ticket, so he decided not to play their game, he knew he could not win at it.

Two things the democrats can burn her on in no time: Her Rovian politics, and the fact that she no more prepared to be commenader in chief than Chaim Sugarman, while McCain is almost gauranteed to die in office.

FADI: She’s also sick in the head. What kind’ve elitist hunter (you know, hunters that can afford to go up in the air to do their hunting) pushes such a platform of legalizing aerial hunting. it’s sick.

And ya, I think even Republicans are scared when they think about the fact that she is one heartbeat away from being President. WTF!?!?
