What public discourse? On corporate political speech

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning political speech restrictions on corporations and unions, a chorus of voices from the Democratic Party has attacked the decision. Notably, President Obama claimed in his State of the Union address that the ruling “will open the floodgates for special interests… to spend without limit in our elections.”

The Buffoonery of Fox “News”

The “News” in “Fox News” is so misleading it is ridiculous. It is purely false advertising. I know this is an old subject given that inanity has been their formula for years.

But a recent clip really gets to me: How is Bill O’Reilly’s fake and cutesy feud with Sesame Street even anything close to newsworthy? The most offensive thing is O’Reilly’s smugness in this video.

The Lovely World of Fox News

Fox News tries to make a hero out of a Health Care reform protester who had his finger bitten off at a demonstration. Cavuto tells his story. How funny is it that the guy lost his finger after his fist went into the guy’s mouth! What a typical “victim” in the world of Fox News.

The pinkyless protester’s last line is great, “freedom isn’t free.”
