As the hype surrounding the Palestinian bid for statehood reigns in, the issue of reconciliation returns to forefront as a point of concern.
That Oslo represented anything other than a second Nakba has been imminently disproved by now. By taking a vote to the people, writ large, the Palestinians will be revivifying the peace process. This revivification would be caused by the Arab spring, by Libya, by Egypt.
Exciting news coming in from Cairo tonight: Fatah and Hamas, to the surprise of almost everyone, have come to an agreement to resolve all their issues and create a government of national unity. Too good to be true?
The Gaza police took control of the area and brought a number of relatives of the suspects in the Vittorio Arrigoni killing to persuade them to surrender. They failed.
Neither Fatah nor Hamas will end the Zionist Occupation of Palestine. And neither current nor upcoming Palestinian faction (violent and nonviolent alike) can end the Israeli Occupation of Palestine. This list only contains the Islamist parties in the Arab World. Note that the majority of Muslims (as well as Islamist parties) are not Arab.

Many Hamas supporters also engage in polygamy (but her husband is a Shaheed). Granted there are things I see as a downside, some might seem them as an upside. For example, in their rallies, Hamas likes to enlist the help of women by promising them to get food stamps for showing up to their rallies. Here is a list of observations on Hamas’ record on women as the Hamas government continues to make waves.

Hussein Ibish, a senior fellow at the American Task Force on Palestine (ATFP), landed another one of his controversial articles in NowLebanon, this time on “Hamas’s many splendored contradictions.”
I take this opportunity to shed light on some of his misconceived ideas regarding Palestinian internal affairs.
The main contradiction espoused by Ibish is that Hamas has both a religious and a nationalist agenda, intertwined and at odds with one another. read.
